Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player secured his maiden title for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him falling of the top ten and finally parting ways with former trainer Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents his maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt since that period of 2023.

The win also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular outbursts on court had caused some to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.

However the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, supported by an improved service.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped break points in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden professional victory, gained dominance to push for a third set.

Moutet saved four initial chances in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, he earned the win with a rally at the net, with his opponent failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
